WordPress 2.7.1 Released
The first maintenance fix for WordPress 2.7 has been released this morning, it’s a fairly big one addressing a whole slew of minor issues. You can update automatically using the WP admin tool (which is cool to see) and it’s also nice to see that Matt’s decided not to force self hosted blogs to write WordPress correctly (yet).

- POST-request, but content-length missing -> 411
- show_name docs say it defaults to 1, but it defaults to 0

While upgrading to the most recent version of WordPress is a fairly painless process, I appreciate that there are a lot of people who are not technically focussed. If you’d like a hand upgrading WordPress to the most recent version, drop me a line and I’ll happily do it for you.

Thank you. I do have a friend who needs help upgrading who will get in touch with you shortly. Do we need to upgrade to 2.7 first?

Great to know, I just did the upgrade myself on http://best-interior-design-schools.com/ and it worked like a charm.

Hi Nicole, I would suggest doing the upgrade to 2.7 first and then making the step to 2.7.1, technically I don’t think there’s a need to do it that way but with the database changes it’s always best to step gently.
Hi guys, just a quick note to let you know I reverted back to the 2.7 release. The 2.7.1 was giving me memory errors and timeouts.
I saw the update … but thanks for the heads up on memory errors, any idea if it is plugin related or build?

I would say it’s most likely build related. The error is occurring in the main loop on my text machines.
thanks for the heads up; i’ll refrain from updating at the moment then.

I’m not sure that update worth time to do it. I haven’t faced any of the problems.

just upgraded to 2.7.1 and all seemed fine, but for some reason the add new and edit post functions cause IE 7 to abort loading the page. Front end seems to work fine in all browsers i’ve tried, and back end also works fine in everything but IE7. anyone else experience this? any thoughts as to why this is happening?
Hi Jonny, I had a similar problem when I was editing pages in IE7, the Post button disappeared so I choose to use Safari (http://apple.com) instead, or FireFox.
